Sunday Up Market #4: Valentine's shopping, February 8, «Lotte Plaza»

Time:

08/02/2009 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Place:

8, Novinsky Boulevard, 2nd floor, “Lotte Plaza” Mall

On February 8, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., a love-themed Sunday Up Market had  guests in the very heart of Moscow, in Novyi Arbat “Lotte Plaza” Mall   The market opened on the eve of St. Valentine’s Day.

The “flee markets” in Paris, Sunday rag markets in London, American garage sales, and Israeli Friday hand-made sales have become commonplace. These are all places for buying most unusual handcrafts, vintage wares, one-of-a-kind charming souvenirs made by an unrecognized designer or a needle lady you know.

Now, Moscow has an alternative to Sunday mall shopping. It is the Sunday Up-Market, the first Sunday market in the city!

Sunday Up-Market is a place to buy an elaborate dress, a pair of hand-knitted mittens, a hand-made T-shirt print, a Moscow one and only designer top, or a uniquely made fascinating gift. Also, it is an event to meet old and make new friends, make photos, communicate, and have fun.

Sunday Up Market was set up 4 months ago as part of Random Showroom in Tchistye Prudy. Once a month, the project participants, crafty and creative people, flocked to Moscow to bring self-made knittings, drawings, sculpture designs and some other novelties to make a lovely, exclusive and unique world. But soon, the showroom had become too small to sit the increasing number of project participants. Once the project had become increasingly well-attended, the need for the home-like showroom transformation into an urban culture event was pressing.

The trendy seven-storey Lotte Plaza Mall ideally fitted in a new bigger Random Showroom.

Soon, the Sunday “fashion-with-pleasure” styled market and 32 market participants hosted guests on the second floor of the Mall.

It was exactly the place to make business and have fun in the relaxing spirit of young casual floor tuned to calming retro-set of DJ VOBLA. The event presented exclusive “Made with Love” labelled gifts to the dearest people. It had become a space to meet old and make new friends, make a photo in a vintage hat, and later find it in Live Journal.
